Trip to Colorado

Trent had a week of vacation time in April so on the 6th we left to visit his parents in Denver. The night before I was a little worried that the trip or at least the traveling was not going to go well. That night Brooke started throwing up, a few hours or so after we had her birthday cake, and she threw up a few more times throughout the night. Then in the morning she had a fever so we gave her Tylenol, and by the time we left for the airport, her fever was down and she hadn't thrown-up for about eight hours or so. I was hoping that would last because I did not want to deal with her getting sick on the plane or in the airports. Thankfully, everything ended up going pretty well on our flights. The only other thing that happened was that as we were boarding our plane from LA to Denver, a piece of my tooth broke off. At first, it just felt like there was something between my two back molars so I kept prodding it with my tongue. Then the piece of my tooth just came off, and it didn't hurt at all. It was kind of weird. Also later that night, once we were at Trent's parent's house, Brooke got a bloody nose for no reason. She also had two or three more while we were in Colorado. She never got them before and hasn't had them since.

Anyway, in Colorado, we were able to see Trent's parents and his sister Marissa. One day, we took the kids to the museum. It was fun but tiring. The museum was big. It seemed like we were there almost all day, and we didn't even see it all. We saw dinosaur bones, gems, and mummies among other things. Brooke really seemed to be interested in everything that we saw, but Jade got bored after a while so it took a lot of energy just to keep her from running around. Trent and I were also able to go to the temple, which is hard for us to do here in Yuma. The closest temple is two and a half to three hours away, plus we have to get a babysitter. It was nice to go to the Denver temple which was only about twenty minutes from Trent's parent's house, and we had someone to babysit the children.

On Friday night, the 10th, Brittany, Eve and Alexis also flew in so we were able to see them for a few days before we left on Monday. Brooke and Eve had fun playing together, and Jade wanted to hug Eve often. On Saturday morning, we took the kids to an Easter egg hunt in the neighborhood. It wasn't really a hunt so much as it was just picking up the egg in front of you before another kid got it. There were tons of eggs, and they were just spread out on a school field, no actual hidden eggs involved. That was good, though, because it was freezing cold and windy out there, and the egg hunt was over in about ten minutes. Sunday was Easter, of course, and it was cold again and rainy. It was very different going from Yuma to Denver because it was pretty warm when we left Yuma, and it was fairly cold most of the time that we were in Colorado. It definitely did not seem like springtime there.

We went back to Yuma on Monday, and that went well except that our flight into Phoenix was late. So then we missed our flight to Yuma and ended up getting home a few hours later than we would have liked.
